Planning Your Remodel Step 1: Define Your Vision

Before diving into the remodel, take time to clearly define what you want to achieve. Ask yourself:

✔ What’s working in your home? Identify the areas that need improvement and the elements you love.
✔ What’s not working? Consider functionality, flow, storage, and aesthetics.
✔ What are your priorities? Make a list of must-haves versus nice-to-haves to guide decisions.
✔ What’s your style? Gather inspiration from magazines, Pinterest, and past projects to pinpoint the look and feel you want.

Many of our clients come to us with ideas but need expert direction to refine them. We help bridge the gap between inspiration and execution, ensuring your vision is cohesive and achievable.

Planning Your Remodel Step 2: The Design Process

Once your vision is clear, the next step is working with a designer to bring it to life. At Denver Design Group, our design process is structured to make remodeling an exciting and stress-free experience. Here’s how it works:

  • Initial Consultation We discuss your goals, style preferences, and budget, helping you set a solid foundation for the project.

  • Conceptualization  We create design concepts that reflect your vision, incorporating layout changes, material selections, and functional improvements. This phase often includes mood boards, sketches, or 3D digital renderings to visualize the transformation of your space.

  • Material & Finish Selection From cabinetry and countertops to lighting and flooring, we help you choose materials that align with your style, durability needs, and budget.
  • Finalizing the Design   We refine the details, ensuring that every element complements the overall aesthetic and functionality of your home. At this stage, we also coordinate with contractors and vendors to prepare for the next step – execution.

While planning your remodel as a DIY can be tempting, working with a professional interior designer ensures your project runs smoothly, avoids costly mistakes, and results in a polished, cohesive space.

✔ Expert Guidance: We bring industry knowledge, ensuring your remodel is well-planned and thoughtfully executed.
✔ Cost Efficiency: A well-designed plan prevents expensive errors, rework, and unnecessary purchases.
✔ Seamless Coordination: From material selection to contractor collaboration, we handle the details so you don’t have to.
✔ Personalized Solutions: We tailor every design to your unique needs, lifestyle, and aesthetic preferences.

Planning Your Remodel Step 4: From Planning your Remodel to Execution

Once the design phase is complete, the next step is bringing your vision to life. While the contractor manages construction, we remain closely involved to ensure that the design details are executed as planned.

✔ Material Management & Coordination: We handle the ordering of all finish materials, ensuring everything arrives on schedule and is ready for installation. From tile and countertops to lighting and cabinetry, we oversee these details so nothing is overlooked.

✔ Ongoing Collaboration: We stay involved throughout the construction process, planning site visits to review progress, discuss details with both the contractor and client, and address any design challenges that arise.

✔ Design Oversight: As construction progresses, we ensure that the design intent remains intact. Whether it’s verifying tile layouts, confirming fixture placements, or problem-solving unexpected issues, we’re here to help navigate the details and keep the vision on track.

Home renovations may seem daunting, but with a clear plan and expert guidance, we make the process seamless – transforming your house into the home of your dreams.

“Pop the Top” Alternative – Wash Park

Instead of a traditional “pop the top” remodel, we reimagined this historic 1917 bungalow from the inside out – creating a spacious, open-concept main floor while keeping the charm of the original exterior intact.

✔ Vaulted ceilings with skylights opened up the interior, bringing in natural light and a modern, airy feel.
✔ Load-bearing walls were removed and replaced with structural beams to create an expansive, open living space.
✔ The basement was transformed, adding guest bedrooms, a den, and a third full bath—turning it into a bright, livable extension of the home.
✔ A widened staircase with custom iron railings eliminated the closed-off basement feel, making it seamlessly integrate with the main level.

This project is proof that you don’t always have to build up to gain space – sometimes, rethinking the layout can completely redefine how a home feels and functions.

Each of these projects started with a vision – and through expert planning, they became stunning, highly functional spaces that our clients love.
