This Castle Rock home remodel of the kitchen and family room combination underwent a complete transformation, evolving from a dark, craftsman-style space with a rustic vibe into a bright, modern great room designed for a family that loves to cook and entertain.

The original kitchen was small, lacked natural light, and had a bar-height counter that disconnected it from the family room. A separate dining room and an asymmetrical fireplace further limited functionality and flow.

The renovation introduced a large new window, flooding the kitchen with southern exposure light and becoming the client’s favorite feature. The new open floor plan seamlessly connects the kitchen, dining, and family room, making it perfect for gatherings. A cooktop on the island ensures the main cook is part of the action while preparing meals, while a unique ceiling-mounted hood preserves unobstructed sightlines across the space.

The expansive island enhances storage and provides comfortable seating, while discreet outlets in the quartz backsplash maintain a sleek aesthetic. A new bar area near the dining room is perfect for serving large groups, featuring a handcrafted tile design in white with subtle blue and gray highlights.
