Modern Farmhouse With a Touch of Industrial
Modern Farmhouse With a Touch of Industrial in Littleton Colorado
We’ve all seen this home before; boring, unnecessary walls and soffits, various flooring materials, yellow oak floors, trim, cabinets etc. This home lacked character and interest. It certainly didn’t fit the personalities of this young, vivacious family. They craved a space to gather as a family and to entertain with friends. They wanted a modern farmhouse vibe with a touch of industrial elements. Phase 1 of this project was a complete remodel of the main floor including the kitchen, dining room, powder and laundry room and a guest bathroom added in the basement.
Kitchen – The kitchen was redesigned to maximize storage and create a space to entertain. . A new island with custom counter stools and a breakfast nook to eat and entertain was the beginning. This former kitchen with no seating became a place to entertain with seating for at least 10! Next to go were the awkward soffits above the windows. Removing the soffits increased the amount of light coming in and made the ceilings look taller. New windows were modified in size to accommodate storage underneath and to emphasize the beautiful view outside of the mountains and green space. This modification also doubled their previous countertop space.
Dining Room – Removing the wall between the dining and living room opens up the space and makes the dining room larger. Natural light floods through the two rooms now. A large brass pendant is delicate and ethereal and creates a focal point.
